Leeds Arts University is a specialist arts university in Leeds, in the north of England. Its roots go back to 1846 and the original Leeds School of Art; the institution, later known as Leeds College of Art, gained university title in 2017. According to the university, it is the only specialist arts university in the North of England. Teaching takes place at two sites: the Vernon Street building in central Leeds, used since 1903, and the Blenheim Walk building, erected in the mid-1980s.

A building expansion completed in 2019 added a 230-seat performance auditorium, film and photography studios, fashion design studios, a postgraduate study suite and a larger specialist arts library. Besides undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, the university offers pre-degree courses and free online courses:

  • Foundation Diploma in Art and Design (one year)
  • Extended Diploma in Creative Practice
  • Free online courses with FutureLearn in subjects such as photography, graphic design and illustration

The Foundation Diploma is taught at Vernon Street and leads to specialist pathways in Graphic Communication, Fashion and Textiles, Fine Art or 3D Design.
