Montessori Córdoba International School
Primary and secondary school in Cordoba, Spain
Montessori Córdoba International School is a bilingual Montessori school on the outskirts of Córdoba, run by the Education for Life Group and founded by Lucy Welsted. It stands on a 2,500 m2 plot with gardens and trees; a family home was first converted into classrooms, and in 2019 a new building designed as a Montessori school was added. The site has about 550 m2 of indoor classrooms, outdoor classrooms on terraces, seven play areas and its own patch of forest.
- Nido, for babies from six months until they walk (up to four babies per adult)
- Infant Community, ages one to three (up to seven children per adult)
- Children's House, ages three to six
- Elementary, ages six to twelve, in three classrooms
Teaching follows the International Montessori Curriculum in mixed-age classrooms. The Nido, Infant Community and Children's House are full English-immersion environments where children learn to speak, read and write in English; in Elementary, 70 to 80% of the instruction is in English and the rest in Spanish. The school takes part in the Erasmus-funded Bilingual Montessori Project. Families can book a visit through the website.
