St. Cloud State University (SCSU) is a public university in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and describes itself as one of the state's largest public universities. It is home to more than 1,500 international students from over 90 countries, nearly 15% of the student body.
SCSU offers undergraduate majors, minors and certificates and graduate programmes, including master's degrees and an MBA, through three colleges:
- College of Arts and Sciences
- College of Business, Engineering, and Technology
- College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences
Classes are taught by professors and instructors rather than assistants. Students can join the Honors College, the Huskies Advance mentoring programme and education abroad programmes. International applicants who qualify academically but have lower English scores can receive conditional admission, and the university has an Intensive English Center. The Academic and Cultural Sharing Scholarship gives reduced tuition to eligible international students. All new first-year students live on campus with a meal plan for two semesters, and admitted international students attend four days of orientation before classes start.

International undergraduate applicants follow a seven-step process:
- Online application
- Official secondary school transcripts sent by the school, officially translated into English, plus country-specific verification (e.g. WAEC/WASSCE scratch card); the full IB diploma is accepted
- Official transcripts from any university attended
- Official TOEFL or IELTS score report, or another accepted English option
- Financial form and bank statement (dated within six months) proving funds for the first year
There are priority deadlines for fall and spring admission; later applications are still considered. Admitted students attend four days of orientation.
Applicants submit an official TOEFL (code 6679) or IELTS score report sent directly by the testing agency, or another accepted English proficiency option; minimum scores are listed on a separate page. Students with IGCSE/O-level or A-level results meeting the subject requirements are exempt but may take a placement test on arrival. Applicants who qualify academically but have lower English scores can receive conditional admission, and the university has an Intensive English Center.
The Academic and Cultural Sharing Scholarship gives reduced tuition rates to international students who meet and maintain its eligibility requirements; students opt in during orientation, and it is renewable each semester. Other university scholarships (Huskies Scholarships) and external scholarships, such as We Make Scholars for students from India, are also listed.
All new first-year students must live on campus and have a residential meal plan for two semesters. SCSU has residence halls and apartments, including single rooms; all halls offer free laundry, high-speed wireless internet, card-controlled access, secure package delivery and payment plans.
