Samford University is a private Christian university founded in 1841 and located in Homewood, a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama, in the United States. Its campus covers about 247 acres. According to the university, it enrols 6,101 students from 49 states and 16 countries, with a student-to-faculty ratio of 14:1. Samford states that U.S. News & World Report ranked it 113th nationally in its 2024 Best Value ranking.
Teaching is organised in 10 schools: arts, arts and sciences, business, divinity, education, health professions, law, nursing, pharmacy and public health. Samford offers more than 180 undergraduate majors, minors and concentrations, all built on a liberal arts core curriculum, and more than 60 graduate degrees.
International undergraduates apply with transcripts translated into English, ACT/SAT scores and, if their school did not teach in English, an English test score. The SamfordGlobal office provides visa information for new international students and promotes international education on campus. First-year students must live on campus with a meal plan. Spanish speakers can contact a Spanish-speaking member of the admission team.

International undergraduate applicants submit:
- Application form and personal essay
- Official transcripts translated into English; a credential evaluation (WES, TEC or ECE) may be required if courses were not taught in English
- Academic recommendation
- Official ACT or SAT scores
- English test scores, if needed
- Passport or other official ID and the $50 application fee
Admitted students confirm their place with a $300 enrolment deposit. Students who need an F or J visa must show proof of financial support for the full estimated cost.
An English test is required if the applicant's high school courses were not taught in English. Recommended scores for favourable admission:
- TOEFL iBT: 90
- IELTS: 6.5
- Duolingo English Test: 120
Estimated cost of attendance for international undergraduates in the 2026-27 academic year (US dollars):

The university notes that prices are subject to change.
International applicants can apply for Samford scholarships. Those who demonstrate financial need through the FAFSA, or the CSS Profile if they cannot file a FAFSA, may also qualify for need-based aid. According to the university, more than 90% of students receive Samford aid.
First-year students must live on campus and hold a 19-meals-a-week plan. First-year residence halls include Vail, Smith, Pittman and Gaston and Mann Halls, with rooms based on double occupancy; single rooms and other housing are available at extra cost. All on-campus residents must buy a meal plan. Admitted students apply for a residence hall place and sign a housing contract as part of enrolment.
