Scudit, Scuola d'Italiano Roma

Rome, Italy

Scudit is a school of Italian language and culture for foreign students in the centre of Rome, teaching Italian to foreigners since 1996. It was founded by Roberto Tartaglione, author of numerous books for learners of Italian, who still directs it. Its cultural programme, including art history lessons and guided visits, was shaped by the art historian Giulia Grassi.

  • Intensive course, 4 lesson hours a day, Monday to Friday
  • Super-intensive courses combining group and individual lessons
  • Six-month course (24 weeks)
  • Individual and mini-group lessons, also online
  • Special courses such as cinema, Italian for singers and a course for teachers of Italian as a foreign language

Regular courses run all year at levels A1 to C1; for C2, individual lessons are recommended. Most classes have 5 to 9 students, with a maximum of 12, and a lesson hour lasts 45 minutes. Group courses normally start every two weeks and beginner courses every four weeks. On request the school issues certificates of enrolment, attendance and achievement. Students apply with a preliminary enrolment form and can ask for help with accommodation with private hosts or in hotels; the school also offers a scholarship named after Giulia Grassi.
