The Benalmádena International College

Primary and secondary school in Benalmádena, Spain

The Benalmádena International College (The BIC) is a private British school in Benalmádena on the Costa del Sol, founded in 1997 by Keith Ellis. Its purpose-built campus covers 17,500 m² in Nueva Torrequebrada, just off the N340 road between Benalmádena Costa and Fuengirola, about 300 metres from the beach, with four buildings. The school has more than 300 students.

The BIC follows the UK National Curriculum from Early Years Foundation Stage to Sixth Form:

  • Early Years and Reception
  • Key Stages 1 and 2 (Years 1-6)
  • Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9)
  • Key Stage 4 (Years 10-11), with IGCSE/GCSE exams
  • Sixth Form (Years 12-13), with A levels

Some students, mainly Spanish speakers, also take part of the Spanish curriculum so that their UK qualifications can be accredited in the Spanish system at the end of their studies. The school is registered with the Spanish education authority (centre no. 29001078). According to the school, it is accredited under ISI, BSO and Ofsted standards, and its March 2025 inspection granted the maximum four-year accreditation. Extracurricular clubs include judo, football, basketball and theatre, and meals are cooked on site. Most new students join in September, but admissions are also considered during the year.
