The University of Law (ULaw) is a UK university specialising in law and business. It traces its origins to 1876, when the tutorial firm Gibson & Weldon was formed, and opened its Business School in 2016. According to the university, more law students chose it than any other UK university in 2025 (HESA 2024/25). It has 19 campuses in the UK, including London Bloomsbury and London Moorgate, cities such as Birmingham and Bristol, and ULaw sites at partner universities such as Royal Holloway, University of London, as well as ULaw Online.
- Undergraduate degrees in law, business, criminology, psychology and computer science
- Postgraduate courses in law, business, psychology, computer science and education
- Professional legal training such as the LLM Legal Practice (SQE1&2) and the Bar Practice Course
- Degrees with optional foundation years, online and accelerated programmes
In the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2023 it received an overall Silver rating, with Gold for Student Experience. International students have a dedicated support team and an International Bursary, applied as an annual fee reduction. The university publishes entry requirements by country for international applicants. Students who need a Student Route visa must have a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) before applying for it. On accepting a place on a full-time campus course, international students pay an International Acceptance Payment of £4,000 or £8,000, depending on their location, which counts towards the course fees; the rest of the annual fee can be paid in up to three instalments.
Applicants can prove their level of English with the University of Law English Test (ULET), which assesses English for undergraduate or postgraduate study, is accepted by the university and meets UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requirements. International preparation courses are also offered.
The International Bursary is given automatically to eligible international students (non-British nationals paying overseas fees) as an annual fee reduction, notified in the offer letter. For courses starting between June 2026 and May 2027 it is, for example, £2,500 per year on three-year bachelor's degrees and £2,500 in total on academic master's degrees in law. A European Bursary is offered to students from qualifying countries on eligible on-campus postgraduate courses starting between September 2026 and May 2027. Merit-based scholarships are also available.
The University of Law partners with Studentpad, a search service for private halls, student houses, flats and lodgings in each campus city, available to students once they accept an offer. The accommodation team also reserves a limited number of rooms for new domestic and international students with student accommodation providers in the main campus cities, with bills included. For 2026/27, for example, en-suite rooms at Mary Sturge in Birmingham cost £176 per week including bills.
