The Universidad Nacional (UNA) is a university in Costa Rica with its central seat at the Campus Omar Dengo in Heredia. It also teaches at regional campuses in Liberia, Nicoya, Coto, Pérez Zeledón and Sarapiquí, at the Campus Benjamín Núñez and at the Sede Interuniversitaria de Alajuela.
Teaching and research are organised in five faculties and three centres:
- Health Sciences
- Earth and Ocean Sciences
- Exact and Natural Sciences
- Social Sciences
- Philosophy and Letters
- Centres for general studies, the arts and education
Programmes range from diplomas (diplomados) and bachelor's degrees (bachilleratos) to licenciaturas, master's degrees and doctorates; postgraduate studies are run by the Sistema de Estudios de Posgrado (SEPUNA). The university also offers English courses and publishes academic journals through its own press and repository. Undergraduate admission follows a process based on the Prueba de Aptitud Académica (PAA) aptitude test. Student services include scholarships, counselling and psychological support, health care, and arts, sport and recreation. The UNA has announced changes to its academic calendar from 2027.
