University in Camerino, Italy
The Università di Camerino (UNICAM, University of Camerino) is a state university in Camerino, in the Marche region of Italy. Founded in 1336, it was a free university from 1861 and became a state university in 1958. Besides Camerino, it teaches at satellite sites in Ascoli Piceno, Matelica and San Benedetto del Tronto. About 10% of its students are international, from 50 countries. According to the university, it ranked first among all Italian state universities in the Censis 2026 rankings.
UNICAM has five schools: Architecture and Design, Biosciences and Veterinary Medicine, Pharmaceutical and Health Products, Law, and Science and Technology. It offers three-year bachelor's degrees, two-year master's degrees, five-year single-cycle degrees in law, pharmacy and veterinary medicine, specialisation schools and PhD programmes in six areas. Most courses are taught in Italian, but several master's degrees are taught in English:

International students apply through a pre-admission procedure, and the university takes part in Erasmus+ and the KreativEU European alliance. Student housing includes the Residenza I Duchi and the Seminario Arcivescovile in Camerino.

Five-year single-cycle degrees: Law, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology, Veterinary Medicine (Matelica).
Graduate programmes
Two-year master's degrees (120 credits). Taught in English: Biological Sciences (Molecular Diagnostics and Biotechnology; Nutrition), Chemistry (with Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon), Computer Science (with Reykjavik University and FHNW), Geoenvironmental Resources and Risks, Mathematics and Applications, Physics. Taught in Italian: Architecture, Design for Innovation and Digital Culture, Landscape, Innovation and Sustainability (Ascoli Piceno), Migration and EU Integration Policies, Food Science and Innovation.
PhD programmes through the International School of Advanced Studies (ISAS) in six areas, from architecture and design to life and health sciences, plus university master courses and specialisation schools.
Admission
International applicants first request a preliminary evaluation (pre-admission) online: they register in the university database, upload the documents required for their country and programme, and pay a non-refundable fee of €20. For the 2026-27 academic year the pre-admission deadline was 31 March 2026, and the call is now closed for non-EU students; EU applicants can still contact the International Student Office. After a positive evaluation, students pre-enrol on the Universitaly portal and apply for a study visa. Applications sent by email are not accepted.
Language requirements
Most degree courses are taught in Italian. Applicants to Italian-taught courses must upload an official certificate of Italian at level B2 or above. For English-taught courses, a Cambridge, IELTS or TOEFL certificate can be uploaded but is not mandatory; medium-of-instruction (MOI) letters are not accepted.
Scholarships and financial aid
UNICAM offers merit scholarships: Welcome in UNICAM for new students (call usually in July), Talenti in UNICAM from the second year (usually in March) and part-time student jobs (usually in November). Students can also become paid tutors, apply for regional ERDIS scholarships and for mobility grants for study, research or internships abroad. The university also takes part in the CRUI-IUPALS scheme for Palestinian students.
