Università degli Studi di Salerno
University in Fisciano - Salerno, Italy
The Università degli Studi di Salerno (UNISA, University of Salerno) is a university based in Fisciano, a few kilometres from Salerno, in southern Italy. It traces its roots to the medieval Schola Medica Salernitana; its modern history began with a teacher-training institute founded in 1944, which became state-owned in 1968. It is organised as a campus, with the Fisciano and Baronissi campuses, and has about 40,000 students.
Its 17 departments cover a broad range of fields:
- Engineering, computer science, mathematics and physics
- Chemistry, biology, pharmacy and medicine
- Economics, business and statistics
- Law, political science and communication
- Humanities, cultural heritage, philosophy and education
Alongside its Italian-taught degrees, for 2026/2027 the university lists a bachelor's degree, seven master's degrees, a university master's and three PhD programmes taught in English. Non-EU applicants living abroad pre-enrol through the Italian ministry's Universitaly platform; Italian-taught degrees require level B2 in Italian. The campus has residence halls, and regional scholarships (ADISURC) are open to international students.
