Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour
University in Pau, France
The Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour (UPPA) is a French university with five campuses: Pau, Anglet, Bayonne, Mont-de-Marsan and Tarbes. It holds the French "University of Excellence" label through its I-SITE E2S (Energy and Environment Solutions) and belongs to UNITA – Universitas Montium, an alliance of European universities.
UPPA offers bachelor's degrees (licence), technology bachelor's degrees (BUT), engineering degrees, master's degrees and doctorates. Its two doctoral schools cover sciences and their applications (about 230 PhD students) and social sciences and humanities (about 330). The GREEN graduate school, opened in 2022, runs five-year master's-plus-PhD programmes in energy and environment in Pau or Anglet, taught in English (except some French in the ASSET sustainability science master's), and every selected master's student receives an allowance of €5,000 a year.
For Spanish students, UPPA has a dual degree in Economics and Business Administration with the University of Zaragoza. International students can come on exchange or enrol individually for a full degree, and a French Summer Course is held in Pau (28 June to 23 July 2027). An International Welcome Desk helps with administrative steps.

Admission
Exchange students come through their home university's mobility programme. International students enrolling individually for a full UPPA degree follow a specific procedure: for the GREEN master's programmes, students who are neither EU citizens nor EU residents apply from 1 October until spring on the Études en France platform, while EU citizens or residents apply in February-March on Mon Master. Online enrolment for 2026-2027 ran from 7 July to 30 September 2026. Questions: [email protected].
Scholarships and financial aid
International students enrolled individually can be eligible for UPPA study grants under certain conditions, in addition to funding from their home country. Foreign students on a master's in energy and environment can apply for the E2S UPPA Talents' Academy grant: all students selected for the GREEN graduate school receive €5,000 a year during their master's.
