University of Waikato

The University of Waikato (Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato) is a New Zealand university with its main campus in Hamilton and a second campus in the centre of Tauranga. It began in 1964 with just over 100 students and today has more than 13,000 students a year from New Zealand and abroad. It also runs the New Zealand University of Waikato Institute (NZUWI) in Hangzhou, China.

Students can choose from more than 100 subjects across undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral qualifications. The university states that all bachelor's degrees include work-integrated learning, and two bachelor's degrees can be combined as a conjoint programme. Other options include:

In Hamilton, accommodation includes three halls of residence, apartments, cottages, studios and units; in Tauranga there is self-catered university accommodation, and homestays with local families are also available.
