The University of Greater Manchester is a university in Bolton, Greater Manchester, with its campus on Deane Road in the town centre, 17 minutes by train from Manchester. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees, apprenticeships and professional development, and some courses are delivered with off-campus partners.

Its preferred teaching approach, the "Greater Manchester Way", is based on block teaching, although not all courses follow this model. The university also runs a summer school. Students can live at Orlando Village, the only accommodation provider approved and recommended by the university, with 383 rooms in self-catering flats a 10-minute walk from campus. Applications for September entry are made through UCAS (institution code B44) or, for a single course, directly to the university.

Each applicant is assessed on their own merit against the admissions policy and the course criteria; some courses require an interview, audition, other assessment or a portfolio. For full-time September entry, applicants choosing several courses or institutions apply through UCAS (institution code UGM / B44, up to five courses for £28.95). Applicants for a single course can apply directly to the university free of charge, but cannot apply both directly and through UCAS in the same year.
Orlando Village is the only student accommodation provider approved and recommended by the university: purpose-built halls with 383 rooms in self-catering flats of up to six people, a 10-minute walk from the main campus. There are four room types (Bronze, Bronze Plus, Silver and Gold, the last with en-suite), and rent includes bills and wifi. The site has 24/7 security staff, an on-site launderette and a free campus bus. The university also runs a Rent a Room scheme.
