The University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) is a university in Presque Isle, in Aroostook County in northern Maine. It was founded in 1903 by the Maine State Legislature as the Aroostook State Normal School. Its 150-acre campus is surrounded by hills and potato fields, and the university serves more than 3,000 traditional and non-traditional students, including students from Canada and other countries.
UMPI combines liberal arts, selected professional programmes and fully online competency-based education (YourPace). It offers 22 bachelor's degree programmes, 7 associate degrees, 40 minors and 5 certificates, in fields such as business, nursing, education, computer science, cybersecurity, environmental science, medical laboratory science and social work, plus online master's degrees in business and organisational leadership.
International students apply through ApplyMaine or the Common App, have their transcripts evaluated by a NACES or AICE member, and show English proficiency. For the 2026-27 academic year, out-of-state and international tuition is US$14,220. On-campus students live in Emerson or Park Halls with a compulsory meal plan.

High school transcripts from China and English-speaking Canadian provinces do not need an evaluation. UMPI may also request an essay or an interview.

Fees
Estimated costs for the 2026-27 academic year (out-of-state/international students):
- Tuition: US$14,220 (US$474 per credit hour, based on 30 credits)

- Estimated annual direct costs: US$27,120
Canadian residents pay the in-state rate of US$8,370. Charges may be adjusted by the Board of Trustees.
Housing
On-campus students live in Emerson or Park Halls and must take a meal plan. 2026-27 annual rates: double room US$5,610, double plus US$6,410, single US$7,240; meal plan (unlimited dining plus US$250 declining balance) US$5,790.
