The University of Sunderland is a university in Sunderland, a coastal city in the north-east of England. It has two campuses, one of them City Campus.
Its courses are grouped into five broad areas:
- Art, design and media, including journalism, film and music
- Business and tourism
- Education, law and social sciences
- Health professions, sciences and wellbeing, including medicine, pharmacy, nursing and physiotherapy
- Computer science and engineering
The university reports a five-star rating for employability in the QS Stars 2026 assessment, along with various subject placings in UK league tables.
Students can live in three university-managed, self-catered residences (Panns Bank, Scotia Quay and The Precinct), all less than a mile from the campuses and the city centre, with free transport to class. Family and couples' accommodation is also available, and a Trusted Landlord Scheme offers private alternatives. International applicants cannot use the UK Clearing system and apply through the links on each course page. The Student Helpline answers questions about courses by phone, email and live chat, and the university holds open evenings and campus tours for prospective students.
