Wilmington University (WilmU) is a private, nonprofit, open-access university in New Castle, Delaware, serving students since 1968. It is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and has several campuses and affiliate locations in Delaware and New Jersey, between Philadelphia, New York City, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. It serves recent school leavers as well as working adults, with flexible formats and more than 150 programmes offered entirely online.

WilmU offers more than 200 degree and certificate programmes, from associate degrees to doctorates, including:

  • Business, accounting, finance and an MBA
  • Computer science, information systems and game design
  • Health sciences and nursing (RN to BSN)
  • Criminal justice and psychology
  • Education and doctoral programmes (EdD, DBA)
  • Law at the Wilmington University Farnan School of Law

A specific list of programmes is eligible for the F-1 student visa. International applicants submit an application with a USD 35 fee, a passport copy, an evaluation of foreign transcripts, financial documents and proof of English proficiency. According to the university, international and domestic students pay the same tuition rates. An ESL programme is also available.

Admission Requirements

Admission checklist for F-1 visa applicants:

  • Wilmington University application and USD 35 non-refundable fee
  • Copy of a valid passport
  • Official evaluation of transcripts from outside the US (NACES member agency; course-by-course with GPA for university studies)
  • Affidavit of support and a bank statement showing at least USD 23,550, both dated within six months of admission
  • Proof of English proficiency
  • Immunisation record (MMR)

Master's applicants need the equivalent of a US bachelor's degree, and doctoral applicants the equivalent of a US master's degree.
