Academia Uruguay

Academia Uruguay is a Spanish language school in Montevideo, Uruguay, founded in 2007. It is in the city's historic centre, one block from Plaza Matriz, on the top floor of a restored heritage building.

The school offers intensive group and individual Spanish courses for all levels. Group classes have a maximum of eight students. All teachers hold a degree in Spanish language or literature, and teaching follows the communicative approach, balancing speaking, listening, reading and writing. Course options include:

• Intensive group and individual courses
• Long-term intensive course for stays of 12 weeks or more, 20 hours a week in 55-minute sessions
• Spanish teacher training for non-native speakers (levels B1 to C2)
• Courses for Portuguese speakers
• Spanish combined with tango lessons
• Volunteer programmes

Staff speak Spanish, English, German, French, Italian and Portuguese and help students with everyday life in Montevideo. The school runs free social and cultural activities and arranges homestays with local families.
