Africa University is a private institution of higher education, founded in 1988. Located 17 km northwest of Mutare, Zimbabwe's fourth largest city, the school is described as ‘Pan-African and United Methodist-Related institution". The school awards bachelor’s and master’s degrees in a range of programs. It currently has six faculties: Agriculture & Natural Resources, Humanities & Social Sciences, Theology, Education, Management & Administration, and Health Sciences. It also runs an Institute of Peace, Leadership andGovernance, as well as the Africa University Information Technology Training Center. Africa University promotes diversity in its student body, and 23% of the 55 nations of Africa are represented in the university. 52% of the students there are female.
