Assumption University (Worcester, Massachusetts)

Assumption University is a private Catholic liberal arts institution in Worcester, Massachusetts, sponsored by the Augustinians of the Assumption. It was founded in 1904 as Assumption College and has been on its current campus on Salisbury Street since 1956. In 2020 the college became Assumption University. It also has a second campus in Rome, Italy, opened in 2013.

The university is organised into five schools:

• D’Amour College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
• Froelich School of Nursing
• Grenon School of Business
• School of Health Professions
• School of Graduate Studies

Undergraduates take the Foundations Program, which introduces essential works and ideas of the liberal arts and sciences, and the university also offers graduate and post-baccalaureate programmes. The student-to-faculty ratio is 11:1 and all classes are taught by professors rather than teaching assistants. Students come from many US states and more than a dozen other countries. The residential campus is in Worcester, New England's second-largest city; over a third of students compete in one of 26 NCAA teams, and the university states that 99% of students receive financial aid.
