Koinè Center

Koinè Center is an Italian language school founded in Florence in 1980. It now has four schools, in the historic centres of Florence, Lucca, Bologna and Capraia. Teaching follows a communicative method developed by the school's own teaching staff, with lessons based on authentic materials and real-life situations, with speaking and listening first.

• Italian language and culture course: 20 hours a week of group lessons in the morning, with afternoon activities
• Combined course: group lessons plus 5 or 10 one-to-one hours a week
• Individual courses of 2 to 8 hours a day
• Long programmes of 3, 6, 9 or 12 months
• Online individual lessons, including an Italian culture course for B2 level
• Courses for teachers and special programmes such as cooking, wine and art

Groups have a maximum of 12 students, and new students take a placement test on arrival. Afternoon lectures, excursions and guided visits are included in the course fee. For students who need a study visa, the school issues an enrolment certificate for the Italian embassy or consulate and helps with the residence permit after arrival. On request, Koinè books accommodation free of charge: host families, shared or independent apartments, B&Bs or hotel rooms.
