AEP Academic Experience in Prague, formerly known as UPCES, is the undergraduate study abroad programme of Charles University and CERGE-EI in Prague, Czech Republic. Students are enrolled at the Charles University Faculty of Humanities, and classes meet in the Schebek Palace, a historic building in the centre of Prague. All courses are taught in English.
AEP offers fall and spring semesters. The fall semester usually runs from early September to mid-December and the spring semester from early February to mid-May. Each student takes five courses, including the compulsory Elementary Czech Language, for a total of 16 academic credits. The liberal arts courses focus on topics relevant to Central Europe and are designed for third- and fourth-year students at US universities; classes run Monday to Thursday. Most students come from universities in the United States and Canada and study alongside Czech students from Charles University and exchange students from other countries.
The semester includes a two-week orientation and four programme trips, including a weekend in Krakow. Applicants need a GPA of at least 3.0 and three completed university semesters; admission decisions are made on a rolling basis and there is no application fee. Students share furnished apartments assigned by AEP; rent is not included in tuition and is paid directly to the landlord.

Admission
AEP admits undergraduates currently enrolled at a university or college who have completed at least three semesters of university study by the start of the programme. The minimum GPA is 3.0, although the admissions committee may accept lower GPAs in some cases. The online application includes education history, two references, language skills, short essays and a preliminary course choice, plus a résumé, a passport copy (needed for the visa) and an official transcript. Decisions are made on a rolling basis and there is no application fee.
Housing
AEP assigns pre-approved housing: students share furnished apartments with other AEP students, typically with three or four bedrooms, a full kitchen and internet, bedding and towels included. Roommates are matched according to the lifestyle preferences given in the housing application, and all students move in on a set day in the first week of orientation. Housing is not included in tuition; rent is paid directly to the landlord by card or bank transfer.
