DeutschAkademie, Wien

Wien, Austria

DeutschAkademie Wien is a German language school in the centre of Vienna, at Opernring 1, directly opposite the State Opera; three underground lines (U1, U2 and U4) stop 50 metres from the school. It has offered German courses since 1999 and holds the wien-cert quality seal, which makes its courses eligible for funding from the Vienna employees' promotion fund (waff); according to the school, this funding can cover up to 90% of the course price.

Courses run at all levels from A1 to C2, with new starts every month. Teachers are native speakers, German is the language of instruction from the first lesson, and groups usually have 7 to 14 participants. Classes are offered in four time slots between 8:30 and 21:15.

  • Intensive course: 3 hours a day, Monday to Thursday, for 4 weeks
  • Semi-intensive evening course: twice a week for 8 weeks
  • Conversation and grammar courses
  • Visa course and German course for nursing staff
  • Private and company courses
  • Online courses

A free written and oral placement test, based on the 12-level model of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), is used to find the right course. Students can also join free online tutoring from Monday to Friday, 14:00 to 17:00. The school is an exam centre for ÖSD exams (B1, B2, C1) and telc German exams (A1 to C1 Hochschule).
