European University Institute

The European University Institute (EUI) is a postgraduate and postdoctoral research university in the social sciences and humanities, located in Florence, Italy. It was established in 1972 by the founding member states of the European Union and opened to researchers in 1976. The EUI is an intergovernmental organisation with 24 member states. Its campus stretches over the hills around Florence and into the city centre, and many of its buildings date from the Renaissance.

The EUI offers advanced academic training and research in economics, history, law and political and social sciences:

• Fully funded four-year PhD programmes in history, law, economics, and political and social sciences, with tuition fees and living expenses covered
• Master of Arts in Transnational Governance (MTnG)
• Master in Economic Research
• Global Executive Master
• Fellowships for early-career and senior academics
• Executive education for academics, policy-makers and professionals in the public and private sectors
