Temple University

Temple University is a public research university in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It was founded as a night school by Russell Conwell in 1884 and today has more than 33,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional students. Temple is classified as an R1 institution (very high research spending and doctorate production) by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. Its Main Campus is in Philadelphia, and it has eight campuses in total, including long-standing international campuses in Tokyo and Rome.

Temple's 17 schools and colleges offer more than 600 academic programmes, from bachelor's degrees to master's, doctoral and certificate programmes, with a student-faculty ratio of 15 to 1. The university states that it is among the largest educators in the United States in the combined fields of dentistry, law, medicine, pharmacy and podiatry, and it is linked to the Temple Health academic health system. Study abroad opportunities cover six continents.

Temple admits first-year, international and transfer undergraduates, and international applicants can contact dedicated international admissions staff. Students can live in one of nine on-campus residence halls or off campus. Financial aid includes scholarships, grants, loans and work-study programmes.

Scholarships and financial aid

Temple's stated goal is to make it financially possible for every qualified applicant to enroll. Financial aid and assistance options for eligible students include scholarships, grants, loans and work-study programmes, managed through the Student Financial Services Office. According to the university, 46% of the Class of 2028 are Pell Grant recipients.

Housing

Temple has nine on-campus residence halls, and students can also choose from a variety of off-campus housing alternatives. Many students live on campus and eat in the university's dining halls, with flexible meal plans available to all students. The OWLcard student ID gives access to residence halls and meal plans.
