Alcalingua is the centre of the Universidad de Alcalá dedicated to language teaching and to the training of language teachers. It is located in the historic centre of Alcalá de Henares, in the former Colegio de San Patricio, also known as the Colegio de los Irlandeses, a university college founded in the mid-17th century. It was created to help international students learn Spanish, and today it teaches Spanish and other foreign languages, covering both the language and the culture of the countries where it is spoken.

Spanish courses run in quarterly terms; in 2027 the winter term runs from 7 January to 12 March and the spring term from 15 March to 31 May. The building has ten classrooms with interactive whiteboards and a student service that advises on accommodation, visa procedures and extracurricular activities. Students can also use Universidad de Alcalá facilities such as libraries and sports facilities. Accommodation options include homestays, shared flats, the CRUSA Campus Village and the Residencia Lope de Vega. According to the centre, it holds the Compromiso de Calidad Turística quality seal.
