Universidad de San José is a private university in San José, Costa Rica, that has been training professionals since 1992. Its offices are in San Francisco de Dos Ríos. All programmes are taught 100% online, on a virtual platform available 24 hours a day, and are designed for students who work or have family responsibilities.

The university lists more than 25 programmes:

  • Bachelor's and licenciatura degrees in Business Administration, Law, Education, Nutrition and Food Technology
  • Postgraduate programmes in Senior Management, Banking and Finance, International Marketing, Educational Administration and Educational Psychology
  • Technical programmes such as Accounting Assistant, Pharmacy Assistant, Criminology and Sports Performance
  • A specialisation in notarial and registry law
  • English, Italian, Portuguese and French courses

Students have access to a virtual library with more than 500 titles, and the university has agreements with over 20 companies, cooperatives and institutions in Costa Rica. Admission requires a secondary school diploma (bachillerato), and documents are handed in at one of the university's offices. Enrolment dates depend on the programme. Payment can be split, with 25% at the start and the rest in three monthly instalments, and a scholarship programme is available.

  • Education (English, Spanish, Social Studies and Natural Sciences, for primary and secondary teaching)
  • Nutrition
  • Food Technology

Technical programmes: Accounting Assistant, Pharmacy Assistant, Criminology and Sports Performance and Management.

Graduate programmes

Master's and postgraduate programmes, taught online:

  • Senior Management (Alta Gerencia)
  • Banking and Finance
  • Marketing and International Trade
  • Educational Administration
  • Educational Psychology (Psicopedagogía)

Specialisations are also offered in notarial and registry law (for law graduates) and in management and leadership (MT6).

Admission

Documents required for admission, handed in at one of the university's offices:

  • Original and copy of the secondary school diploma (bachillerato); for technical programmes, the ninth-grade (Tercer Ciclo) certificate
  • Two passport-size photos
  • Enrolment application form
  • Copy of the identity card (cédula)

Enrolment periods depend on the programme.
