Augusta University (AU) is a public research university in Augusta, Georgia's second-oldest and second-largest city, in the United States, with satellite campuses in Athens, Albany, Rome and Savannah. It focuses on the health sciences and medical research and is home to the Medical College of Georgia, the state's only dental school (the Dental College of Georgia) and the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center. Its 11 colleges and schools offer more than 150 programmes.

The Health Sciences Campus houses the College of Nursing, the College of Allied Health Sciences, The Graduate School and the College of Science and Mathematics; the Summerville Campus hosts arts, humanities and social sciences, business, education and public health; and the Riverfront Campus houses the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences. Programmes range from cybersecurity, computer science, business and fine arts to nursing, allied health, medicine and dentistry, at bachelor's, master's and doctoral level.

International undergraduates apply online, pay a US$60 fee and submit secondary school transcripts (a course-by-course evaluation is recommended) and proof of English, such as TOEFL iBT 4.0 or IELTS 6.5. On-campus housing for more than 1,200 residents includes studios, apartments and single and double rooms.

Admission Requirements

International undergraduate applicants must meet the general and international admission requirements:

  • Submit the application first, then the supporting documents, and pay the US$60 non-refundable fee
  • Secondary school transcripts from every school attended; a course-by-course evaluation by a NACES member is recommended for non-U.S. schools and required for university study abroad
  • Proof of English proficiency for non-native speakers
  • For the F-1 I-20: proof of funds for tuition, books, living expenses and travel

Admitted students must confirm their place at least 90 days before the semester starts so the I-20 can be processed.

Language Requirements

Non-native speakers of English can show proficiency with one of these minimum scores:

  • TOEFL iBT: 4.0 (79 if taken before 2026)
  • IELTS: 6.5
  • PTE Academic: 58
  • SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing: 480; ACT English: 17
  • Michigan English Test: 59; Cambridge English Scale: 177

Graduation from a U.S. high school, a degree taught in English, or completion of a University System of Georgia ESL programme are also accepted.

Housing

Housing and Residence Life accommodates more than 1,200 residents in studios, apartments, and single and double rooms. A first-year housing application opens each year; returning and transfer students can join a waitlist through the Housing Portal when halls are full. The housing office is in Oak Hall on the Health Sciences Campus.
