Brigham Young University (BYU) is a university in Provo, Utah (United States), founded, supported and guided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, of which it is the flagship higher education institution. The Church subsidises tuition with its members' tithing funds, so in principle every student attending BYU is on a scholarship. Research at BYU covers topics such as water supply in the American West and AI-generated deception.

BYU offers undergraduate and graduate programmes. International applicants, defined as those who need a visa to enter the United States, choose an intended major when they apply and pay a US$35 application fee. They submit evaluations of international coursework by IERF or TEC, essays, recommendations and, depending on their record, ACT or SAT scores. Non-native English speakers usually need a test such as TOEFL iBT (80 for tests before 21 January 2026), IELTS Academic 6.5, PTE 60 or Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency.

All applicants complete an Ecclesiastical Endorsement with two interviews on the honor code and spiritual growth; applicants who are not Church members can interview with a leader of their own faith and the BYU chaplain. International students are eligible for the university's general scholarships, and BYU's English Language Center offers English courses.
