Southern Utah University (SUU) is a university in Cedar City, in south-western Utah between Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. Founded in 1897, it has more than 16,000 students and an average class size of 19.8. More than 20 national parks and monuments lie within a five-hour drive, and the Utah Shakespeare Festival is the university's professional theatre organisation.

SUU offers more than 150 undergraduate programmes, 32 master's degree and certificate programmes and a professional doctorate, on campus in Cedar City or fully online. Programmes range from business and nursing to aviation.

Students from more than 90 countries attend SUU. International Affairs runs international admission, student services and study abroad, and its Intensive English Program prepares students for degree study; students at the top level can combine it with classes in their major. Dedicated scholarships are available for international students. Housing options include residence halls, off-campus housing and a homestay programme with local families.
