Columbia College is a four-year, co-educational college in Columbia, Missouri (United States). It traces its history to 1851, when Christian Female College received its charter, and became the co-educational Columbia College in 1970. Besides the main campus, it teaches at locations across the country and fully online; according to the college, it offered some of the first online courses in the United States in 2000.
The college offers associate, bachelor's and master's degrees and certificates in areas including Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Education, Humanities, Natural Sciences & Mathematics, Nursing, Social & Behavioral Sciences, Social Work & Human Services, and Visual Arts & Music.
International students apply under the same admission standards as domestic students; the only extra requirement is proof of English proficiency. Students who need an F-1 visa can study only at the Columbia (day programmes) and Denver locations. International applicants meet the same admission standards as domestic students, plus proof of English proficiency. Steps:
- Submit the application and authenticate your identity
- Send all transcripts, credentials and national exams in the original language with an official English translation to [email protected] (unofficial transcripts are accepted for admission; official ones are due within 90 days)
- Complete the SEVIS supplement and submit immigration documentation for the Form I-20
- An affidavit of support from your sponsor if you are not self-funded
- Proof of English proficiency
Complete applications are recommended at least four weeks before the start of the fall, spring or summer semester. F-1 students can attend only the Columbia (day) and Denver locations.
Applicants whose native language is not English must prove English proficiency. Minimum scores:
- Undergraduate: IELTS 6.0 (no band below 5.5), TOEFL iBT 4 (no subscore below 3.5), Duolingo 95, PTE Academic 50
- Graduate: IELTS 6.5 (no band below 6.0), TOEFL iBT 4 (no subscore below 4), Duolingo 105, PTE Academic 58
iTEP, SAT, ACT and some school-leaving exams are also accepted, as are alternatives such as a degree from an accredited U.S. institution. Results must not be more than two years old. Applicants from several English-speaking countries, such as Australia, Ireland and the United Kingdom, are exempt.
Costs for the 2026-27 academic year, per semester:
- Undergraduate tuition (at least 12 credit hours, day classes in Columbia): US$14,677
- On-campus housing: US$3,313; food: US$2,700
- Graduate tuition (at least 6 credit hours, online or in seat): US$5,401
According to the college, its tuition model includes textbooks, lab fees, athletics and tutoring.
