Northwest Missouri State University (Northwest) is a public, primarily residential four-year university founded in 1905 in Maryville, Missouri, United States, a town of about 10,000 inhabitants and the city's only traditional four-year university. It offers undergraduate and graduate programmes on its Maryville campus and online.
Northwest offers more than 200 majors and programmes, over 120 of them open to international students, with a student-faculty ratio of 16 to 1 and a focus on profession-based learning through research, internships and hands-on projects. Its colleges cover agriculture and natural sciences; arts, communication and social sciences; business, mathematics and technology; and education, health and human services. Online programmes include MBA specialisations, education master's degrees and bachelor's degrees completed online.
International freshmen are assessed individually on secondary school results and school-leaving examinations; transfer students need a GPA of at least 2.00, and graduate applicants a bachelor's degree with a GPA of at least 2.50. The application requires no essay, and scholarship decisions are communicated at the time of acceptance. The International Involvement Center guides international applicants. Students can live in seven on-campus housing options, including apartment-style housing, with furnished rooms, Wi-Fi and free laundry.
