Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) is a comprehensive university based in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, United States, a historic city on the Mississippi River between St. Louis and Memphis. It has about 10,000 students and five campus locations across south-east Missouri, including the River Campus, dedicated to art, dance, music and theatre. SEMO is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, and students come from more than 40 countries.

The university offers more than 170 degree programmes: 129 undergraduate majors and options, 33 master's and specialist degree programmes and 11 certificate programmes, with around 30 programmes in healthcare and fully online options through SEMO Online.

Students who need a visa apply as international students, and International Education and Services is their main contact for admission and arrival. There is no application fee and admission is test-optional. For the 2026-2027 academic year, SEMO estimates tuition and general fees of US$19,410 for an international undergraduate taking 30 credit hours, plus mandatory health insurance. Full-time students live on campus for their first four semesters, in traditional or suite-style residence halls.

Housing

Full-time students must live on campus for their first four semesters, and undergraduates under 21 must live on campus unless exempt. Options are traditional community-style and suite-style residence halls, in single or double rooms. Admitted students apply online through the housing portal, and international students are encouraged to complete their housing contract before arrival.
