Complutum Montessori School (written COMPLVTVM by the school) is a private, secular and bilingual school in Alcalá de Henares, in the Corredor del Henares east of Madrid. It is privately owned, receives no public funding and follows the Montessori method at every stage. The school lies close to the Los Cerros de Alcalá natural park, and gardening and outdoor activities are part of the daily routine.
- Casa de Niños (early years), ages 2.5 to 6
- Taller (primary), ages 6 to 12
- Adolescencia (secondary), ages 12 to 16
Students work in Spanish and English throughout the school day. The curriculum covers mathematics, Spanish language and culture, a foreign language, natural and social sciences, art, music and physical education, taught in mixed-age Montessori environments with small ratios; progress is assessed through observation rather than constant testing. The school states that it is applying for accreditation by the Middle States Association (MSA) of the United States, and that this accreditation allows the Comunidad de Madrid to authorise it as a foreign school and recognise its studies. Admission includes an interview with the teaching team and a trial period of one to seven days, and the school helps families with the homologation of the lower secondary (ESO) qualification.
