ESI Valladolid (ESI, Escuela Superior de Diseño) is a design school in Valladolid that, according to the school, has more than 25 years of experience in design education. Its teachers are working professionals in the different design disciplines, and the campus has a photo studio, a creative lab, a library and a Mac room.

ESI teaches four-year Grados in design (240 ECTS credits, on site), which belong to the Enseñanzas Artísticas Superiores regulated by Real Decreto 1614/2009. Three specialities are offered:

  • Graphic Design & Packaging
  • Interior Design
  • Fashion Design

The school also offers one-year master's programmes (60 ECTS) in Graphic Design, Interior Design, Fashion Design and Illustration and Visual Narrative, three-year school-own qualifications (títulos propios), some combined with a Higher National Diploma (HND), and specialised courses. Access to the Grados is based on the Bachillerato or equivalent and the specific entrance test for higher design studies (the university entrance exam is not needed); holders of a Técnico Superior de Artes Plásticas y Diseño are exempt from the test.

Programmes

Grados in design, four years and 240 ECTS credits each, taught on site:

  • Fashion Design

In Graphic Design, subjects include typography, editorial design, applied photography, illustration and multimedia design; the fourth year includes electives, a 15 ECTS work placement and a 15 ECTS final project.

Graduate programmes

  • Graphic Design (one year, 60 ECTS)
  • Interior Design (one year, 60 ECTS)
  • Fashion Design (one year, 60 ECTS)
  • Illustration and Visual Narrative (one year, 60 ECTS)
  • Video Game Design and 3D Animation, in collaboration with iVisual

There is also a 120-hour postgraduate course in Creative Direction.

Admission

Grados: applicants need the Bachillerato or equivalent and must pass the specific entrance test for higher design studies (Prueba Específica de Acceso); the university entrance exam is not required. Holders of a Técnico Superior de Artes Plásticas y Diseño, and those who passed the specific test in another region in the same year, are exempt from the test. The process starts with an information session and personal interview, followed by admission, pre-registration and enrolment. ESI recognises credits from other degrees and higher vocational qualifications.
