The Institut national des sciences appliquées de Toulouse (INSA Toulouse) is an engineering school and research institute on a 20-hectare campus in the Rangueil scientific complex, a 15-minute metro ride from central Toulouse. It has 3,300 students and more than 600 engineering graduates each year. Its main programme is a five-year engineering course with progressive specialisation, leading to an engineering degree at master's level.

  • Year 1: core scientific curriculum
  • Years 2 and 3: one of four pre-specialisations
  • Years 4 and 5: one of eight specialisations, also available as a work-study contract
  • Master's, Advanced Master's and PhD programmes

Students can join in year 1, 2, 3 or 4, or as apprentices. From the first year there are international pathways for students from Asia, Spain, Norway and English-speaking countries, and foreign students can also join a master's programme through the n+i network of almost 50 French engineering schools. INSA Toulouse has more than 200 partner universities in over 50 countries and holds the Erasmus+ Charter. The campus has 1,662 accommodation places in CROUS and Promologis student residences and 80 student associations. Incoming international students can contact [email protected].

More information about Academic Programs

Five-year engineering programme leading to an engineering degree at master's level. After a common first year, students choose a pre-specialisation for years 2 and 3:

  • Construction Engineering (IC)
  • Materials, Components and Systems Engineering (IMACS)
  • Modeling, Computer Science and Communication (MIC)
  • Chemical, Biochemical and Environmental Engineering (ICBE)

Years 4 and 5 offer eight specialisations: automatic control and electronics, biological engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering and environment, mechanical engineering, applied physics, computer science and networks, and applied mathematics. International first-year pathways: ASINSA, ENGINSA, NORGINSA and IBERINSA.

More information about Graduate Programs

Besides the engineering degree, INSA Toulouse offers:

  • Master's programmes, open after three years of undergraduate study, combining academic knowledge, professional skills and research
  • Advanced Masters: vocational level 7 degrees lasting one year, in initial or continuing education
  • PhD programmes (level 8)

Foreign students can join a master's programme through the n+i network.

Admission Requirements

Students can join INSA Toulouse in the first year after the baccalaureate or an equivalent foreign secondary school diploma, or later in the course (years 2, 3 or 4) depending on their qualifications; apprenticeships are possible from year 3. Entry to year 4 is open to holders of an M1 (first year of a master's) or recognised equivalent obtained in France or abroad. Foreign students can join a master's programme through the n+i network. First-year international pathways (ASINSA, ENGINSA, NORGINSA, IBERINSA) have their own application process.

Housing

The INSA Toulouse campus has 1,662 accommodation places in student residences run by CROUS and Promologis, as well as catering services, a welcome desk and guest rooms. A 24-hour reception and security service is located at the campus entrance. The campus is a 15-minute metro ride from downtown Toulouse.
