The Université Toulouse Capitole (UT Capitole) is a university in Toulouse, in the Occitanie region of France, founded in 1229. It has more than 21,000 students and four sites in Toulouse plus campuses in Montauban and Rodez, and offers 138 national degrees. It is part of the ENGAGE.EU European university alliance. According to the university, its member school Toulouse School of Economics (TSE) places it 16th in the world for economics in the 2026 Shanghai ranking by subject.

UT Capitole is made up of seven member schools and faculties:

  • Toulouse School of Economics (TSE)
  • Sciences Po Toulouse
  • École de Droit de Toulouse (law)
  • Toulouse School of Management (TSM)
  • Faculty of Administration and Communication
  • Faculty of Computer Science
  • IUT Rodez

Its academic fields are law, administration, languages, economics, management, computer science, political science, information and communication, and mathematics. Courses are taught in French or English, and exchange students need a B2 level in the language of their courses. International students can apply as exchange students (Erasmus or bilateral agreements) or for a full degree from bachelor's to doctorate, and can join the Capitole Buddy Programme, which pairs them with local students. A free summer week introducing French law is also offered.

Admission Requirements

Admission routes depend on the applicant's situation (French or European student, resident of an Études en France country, non-European resident in France, or other). Holders of foreign qualifications applying for 2026-27 can enter the first year of a bachelor's degree through the prior admission procedure (DAP), or apply for the second or third year, master's 1 or 2, or a doctorate. Applicants already enrolled in French higher education use Parcoursup (L1), Mon Master (M1) or eCandidature (L2, L3, M2). Distance-learning programmes are also available.

Language Requirements

Courses are taught in French or English. Exchange students must send an official language certificate in the language of the courses they choose, at least level B2. Accepted minimum levels:

  • French: DELF B2, DALF C1 or TCF 450
  • English: Cambridge FCE, CAE or CPE; IELTS Academic 6; TOEFL iBT 79; TOEIC 785; Duolingo English Test 110 (TOEFL ITP not accepted)
