The Université de Toulouse (University of Toulouse), formerly Université Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier, is a public university in Toulouse, in the Occitanie region of France. It was established as an experimental public institution in January 2025 and brings together five constituent units and the affiliated Purpan School of Engineering. It has about 37,700 students and nine sites, in Toulouse, Castres, Tarbes, Auch, Castanet-Tolosan, Bagnères-de-Luchon, Lannemezan, Bagnères-de-Bigorre and Moulis.
The university teaches science, engineering, technology, sports sciences, health and communication through four entities:
- Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSI)
- Faculty of Sport and Human Movement Sciences (F2SMH)
- Faculty of Health
- University Institute of Technology (IUT)
Degrees follow the European structure of bachelor's, professional licence, master's and PhD. Most courses are taught in French, but several master's degrees are taught in English, and the university takes part in the Erasmus Mundus Space Master. Erasmus+ exchange students need at least B2 in French and can take French as a Foreign Language courses. Crous student residences are open to exchange, M2 and PhD students, and the university promotes the France Excellence Eiffel scholarship for international master's and doctoral students.

- Biomolecular Sciences: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Targets (BSM2T)
- Sustainable Water and Ecosystem Protection (SWEP)
The university also takes part in the Erasmus Mundus Master in Space Science and Technology (SPACE MASTER) and offers international dual degrees, for example with universities in Vietnam and China. Most other master's and PhD programmes are taught in French.
Erasmus+ study exchanges are open only to students of universities with a bilateral Erasmus+ agreement with the University of Toulouse (no agreement is needed for work placements). Students must be nominated by their home university, then complete the online application form they receive. Before arrival, the home university sets up the mobility kit (financial contract and learning agreement), which both institutions must approve. A minimum B2 level in French is required.
Most courses are taught in French, and exchange students need at least B2 in French; the Faculty of Medicine may require a higher level. Some master's degrees are taught in English. Erasmus students can take French as a Foreign Language (FLE) courses: 36 hours per semester (12 intensive hours at the start and 24 during the semester), worth 3 ECTS, with groups set by the ELAO placement test.
The university takes part in the France Excellence Eiffel scholarship programme for high-achieving international students. Master's scholarship holders receive a monthly allowance of €1,200 and doctoral holders €2,100, plus outward and final return travel and supplementary health insurance. Applications go through the university: candidates first need the support of the head of the chosen programme or a thesis supervisor.
Admission does not include accommodation, and the university advises starting the search from May. Crous student residences are open to French government scholarship holders and to Erasmus+, exchange, M2 and PhD students; because rooms are limited, international bachelor's and first-year master's students cannot access them. Other options are the Studapart platform, with offers reserved for the university's students, and the fee-paying Toul'Box service, which helps with finding housing before arrival.
