Lincoln University of Missouri is a university in Jefferson City, the capital of the US state of Missouri, a few hours from Kansas City and St. Louis. It was founded in 1866 by soldiers of the 62nd and 65th United States Colored Infantries and is one of Missouri's two Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Lincoln offers more than 50 undergraduate programmes and master's programmes in fields such as education, business, criminal justice and the social sciences, with small classes and online options. Its academic units include:

  • School of Nursing
  • School of Education
  • School of Business
  • College of Agriculture, Environmental and Human Sciences
  • Science, Technology and Mathematics
  • Humanities and Communication, including journalism and foreign languages
  • Social and Behavioral Sciences

According to the university, students from over 30 countries attend Lincoln, and an International Student Services centre supports them. International applicants submit certified, translated transcripts or a credential evaluation, proof of English proficiency, a Certified Declaration of Financial Support and health records. Undergraduates pay flat-rate tuition when enrolled in 12 to 18 credit hours.

Master's programmes in education, business, criminal justice and the social sciences. The School of Education also offers the education specialist degree (EdS), and the Department of Science, Technology and Mathematics offers master's degrees.

Admission Requirements

International undergraduate and graduate applicants submit:

  • An application for admission
  • Certified, translated copies of all transcripts, mark sheets and diplomas, or an official credential evaluation from an accepted agency
  • Proof of English proficiency
  • A Certified Declaration of Financial Support
  • A health form with proof of MMR immunisation (if born after 1956)
  • Proof of tuberculosis screening by chest x-ray
