Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSU Alexandria, LSUA) is a public regional university serving central Louisiana from its campus in Alexandria. It is accredited by SACSCOC to award associate and bachelor's degrees. For autumn 2026 it reports a record enrolment of 8,600 students, and the student-to-faculty ratio is 24:1.

LSUA offers more than 80 degree programmes on campus or fully online, mainly bachelor's degrees and associate degrees:

  • Business, accounting and aviation
  • Nursing, medical laboratory science and radiologic technology
  • Biology, chemistry, mathematics and computer science, including cybersecurity
  • Education, psychology, criminal justice and communication
  • Pre-professional tracks run with other LSU campuses (pre-engineering, pre-veterinary medicine, pre-med)

International students can be admitted as freshmen or transfer students. All admission documents must reach the Admissions Office at least 60 days before the start of the semester. LSUA awards academic scholarships based on academic performance, leadership or community involvement, and has seven NAIA athletic teams.

Admission

All documents must reach the Admissions Office at least 60 days before the semester begins. International applicants:

  • Complete the international application and pay US$80 (US$20 application fee plus US$60 international student fee, non-refundable)
  • Send official transcripts in English of all secondary and post-secondary studies, with a course-by-course evaluation by WES, Global Credentials or InCred
  • Meet the English language requirement
  • Submit the Confidential Financial Information Form and Affidavit of Support, showing US$26,500 per year in funds

ACT or SAT scores are not required but are used for scholarships and fee waivers.

Language requirements

Applicants whose native language is not English need one of:

  • TOEFL iBT: 79 (tests before 20 January 2026) or 4.5 (tests after 20 January 2026); paper TOEFL 550
  • IELTS: 6.5
