Marquette University is a private Catholic, Jesuit university founded in 1881 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (United States). Its campus is in the centre of the city, just over a mile from Lake Michigan. Marquette has more than 8,000 undergraduates and more than 3,700 graduate and professional students in 11 colleges and schools.

Undergraduates choose from more than 75 majors and 80 minors, pre-professional programmes and interdisciplinary studies. At graduate level Marquette offers:

  • More than 70 certificate, master's and doctoral programmes in the Graduate School
  • Graduate business programmes in the Graduate School of Management
  • Law School and School of Dentistry
  • Health sciences professional programmes

First-year domestic and international students apply under Early Action or Regular Decision; the application is free and ACT or SAT scores are optional. For international graduate students, the Graduate School lists the Office of International Education, English language assistance and housing among its resources. Students can also study abroad. On campus there are residence halls, living learning communities and university apartments for juniors and seniors.

More than 70 certificate, master's and doctoral programmes in the Graduate School, in fields such as:

  • Business and management; data science and analytics; computer science, mathematics and statistics
  • Communication and social sciences; counseling and psychology; humanities
  • Education, policy and leadership
  • Engineering; natural sciences; health sciences; nursing

Separate schools: Graduate School of Management (MBA, online MBA, MS in Finance), Law School, School of Dentistry, and health sciences professional programmes such as the Doctor of Physical Therapy and the Physician Assistant programme. Online and accelerated degrees are also offered.

Admission Requirements

First-year domestic and international applicants choose Early Action or Regular Decision for fall entry; spring applications are reviewed on a rolling basis from October. The application is free. Required materials:

  • Official high school transcripts
  • Essay or personal statement
  • Extracurricular activities list

ACT or SAT scores are optional; letters of recommendation are not required but are considered. The review is holistic. Graduate applicants apply to the Graduate School, which supports international applicants (phone +1 414-288-7137).

Fees

2026-27 academic year (undergraduate, per year):

  • Full-time tuition: $53,890
  • Housing and food: $14,380 to $18,790, depending on the residence hall
  • Fees: $1,200
  • Total: $69,470 to $73,880

Graduate School tuition: $1,450 per credit hour (lower rates for some education and humanities master's programmes). Law School: $53,010 per year.

Financial Aid

Undergraduate applicants are automatically considered for the Père Marquette Scholarship during the admission review, and an online scholarship estimator gives an instant estimate. Graduate students can receive merit-based aid awarded by the Graduate School and fellowships such as the Schmitt Leadership Fellowship.
