The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (UW-Green Bay) is a public university in Green Bay, Wisconsin, founded in 1965 and part of the Universities of Wisconsin. Besides its bayside main campus, it has campuses in Manitowoc and Sheboygan and a theatre in Marinette, and it offers many programmes online. Total enrolment is 11,560, and the university was named "ECO U" in 1971 for its environmental focus.

UW-Green Bay offers more than 200 majors, minors, certificates and programmes, at associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral level. Areas include business, computer science and data science, engineering technology, environmental science, nursing and health, education, psychology, social work and the arts and humanities. The university states that most classes have 20 or fewer students.

International students apply through the Universities of Wisconsin application with transcripts, an English test score and financial documents; deadlines are 1 July for fall and 1 December for spring. They pay the non-resident tuition rate. On campus, students can choose residence hall rooms or shared or private bedroom apartments, all with a private bathroom; living on campus is optional.

Admission Requirements

  • Universities of Wisconsin application, listing all secondary and post-secondary schools attended
  • First-year students: official secondary school transcript, diploma or examination results in English (certified translation with the original if needed)
  • Transfer students: course-by-course evaluation from a NACES-approved service for studies outside the U.S.
  • English proficiency test score (no more than two years old)
  • After acceptance: US$50 International Student Processing Fee, passport copy, bank statement and signed Financial Support Statement for the I-20

Deadlines (same each year): apply by 1 July for the fall semester and 1 December for the spring semester; documents by 2 July and 2 December.

Language Requirements

Minimum scores: TOEFL iBT 71 (tests before 21 January 2026) or 4.0 (from 21 January 2026), IELTS 6.0, Duolingo 95, Michigan English Test 53, SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 480, ACT English + Reading combined 34 (no score below 17), five IGCSE grades of C or higher, or WESLI 600 level. Citizens of listed English-speaking countries and holders of a degree from the U.S. or those countries are exempt.

Fees

International students pay the non-resident tuition rate. Estimated annual costs at the Green Bay campus, 2026-2027: non-resident tuition and fees US$17,721; housing US$4,854; meal plan US$3,390; books and supplies about US$800; new student fee US$217. Additional fees may apply.

Housing

Students can choose residence hall rooms, shared bedroom apartments or private bedroom apartments; all include high-speed internet, free laundry and a private bathroom and shower in every room. Housing rates start at US$4,854 per academic year (2026-27 estimate), and some students must have a meal plan. Living on campus is not required. Students apply by submitting a housing contract.
