The University of Wisconsin-Platteville (UW-Platteville) is a public university in Platteville, a small town in the Driftless Region of southwest Wisconsin, in the United States. Founded in 1866, it serves over 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students and reports a student-to-faculty ratio of 20:1.
UW-Platteville offers more than 60 undergraduate and 11 graduate programmes through three colleges: Business, Industry, Life Science & Agriculture; Engineering, Mathematics & Science; and Liberal Arts & Education. It is known for science, technology, engineering, mathematics and agriculture, with facilities such as the 430-acre Pioneer Farm and a Forensic Investigation Crime Scene House. Most master's programmes are offered fully online or in hybrid format.
International undergraduates apply through the Universities of Wisconsin Application by 30 April for the fall semester or 1 November for spring, and pay a US$50 processing fee. The International Student & Scholar Services office administers scholarships for international students. The campus has 11 residence halls, traditional and suite-style, where more than 3,500 students live.

11 graduate programmes, most fully online or hybrid, with accelerated bachelor's-to-master's pathways. Fields include:
- Engineering, engineering design, engineering management, structural/geotechnical engineering
- Project management and advanced project management, strategic management, organisational change leadership, supply chain management
- Applied bioinformatics and applied biotechnology, cybersecurity
- Criminal justice, healthcare administration, nursing home administration, sport administration
Admission
- Universities of Wisconsin Application (no application fee); US$50 International Student Application Processing Fee to be admitted
- Academic records from all secondary and higher education institutions, in the original language with a certified English translation; unofficial copies accepted for the decision, official records required before enrolling
- English proficiency test for non-native speakers
- Transfer credit from abroad: course-by-course evaluation by One Earth, WES or ECE, with course descriptions
- For the I-20: passport copy, UW-Platteville Financial Verification Form and an original bank statement in USD
Deadlines: 30 April for the fall semester and 1 November for the spring semester.
Language requirements
Minimum scores: TOEFL iBT 64 (reading 15, listening 15, speaking 17, writing 17), IELTS 5.5 (5.0 in each band), PTE 46, Duolingo 95, ACT English 18, SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 480 or GTEC 1100 (computer-based). Transfer students from U.S. institutions with a B or higher in English composition and speech, and students in the UW-Madison ESL Program or WESLI, may be exempt.
Fees
2026-27 undergraduate direct costs for international students (full time, on campus): tuition and fees US$19,892; housing and meals US$8,905 (average); academic year total US$28,797. Some majors (agriculture, computer science, construction management, cybersecurity, engineering, engineering technology management) have a programme-specific tuition rate.
Scholarships and financial aid
- Kathryn Mykel Conger Scholarship: for new and continuing degree-seeking international students, priority for future teachers; up to US$10,000 per year (priority deadline for new students 1 July)
- International Club Scholarship: US$250-1,200 on average for active International Club members (deadline 1 July)

U.S. federal and state financial aid is limited to U.S. citizens and permanent residents.
Housing
UW-Platteville has 11 residence halls, traditional or suite-style, where more than 3,500 students live, plus Living Learning Communities for students with shared interests. The Off-Campus Marketplace helps students look for housing off campus. Average housing and meals cost US$8,905 for 2026-27.
