Miami University is a public research university founded in 1809, with its main campus in Oxford, Ohio. It also has polytechnic campuses in Hamilton and Middletown, a learning centre in West Chester, the Dolibois European Center in Luxembourg and a fully online option, Miami Online. The university reports more than 20,000 undergraduates in over 100 areas of study and more than 2,000 graduate students.

Each semester more than 100 students study at the Luxembourg centre, where they stay with a host family or live with classmates. Miami has relationships with more than 50 institutions abroad for student and faculty exchange and joint or dual degrees. The university competes in NCAA Division I with 19 varsity sports, and it states that 95% of first-year students received gift aid in fall 2025.
