Southeastern Oklahoma State University is a public university with its main campus in Durant, Oklahoma, in the south-central United States, about 90 miles from Dallas, Texas, and 150 miles from Oklahoma City. It enrolled 5,851 students in fall 2024, and 23.7% of its students are of Native American descent. Courses are also offered at locations in Ardmore, McAlester, McCurtain County and at Grayson College, and online.
The university focuses on undergraduate education, with more than 55 degree plans, and offers selected graduate programmes. Known areas include aviation (professional pilot and aviation management) and occupational safety and health, alongside business (John Massey School of Business), education, psychology, the sciences, music and theatre. Most classes (92%) have 39 or fewer students, and a 2+2 programme lets students from partner community colleges finish their degree at Southeastern.
Students from 27 countries study on campus. International students, who attend on F-1 visas, are supported by the Office of International Student Services and need, for example, IELTS 5.5 for admission. On the Durant campus, students can live in Choctaw, Chickasaw and North Halls or in Shearer Hall and Suites.
