Southern Adventist University is a Seventh-day Adventist university in Collegedale, Tennessee (United States), that also welcomes students of other faiths. It traces its origins to Graysville Academy, founded in 1892, and is accredited by SACSCOC. In 2025-26 it had 3,008 undergraduate and 352 graduate students from 49 US states and 35 countries; 68% live on its 1,300-acre campus.
Southern offers 75 bachelor's and 20 associate majors, plus master's degrees and a Doctor of Nursing Practice. Nursing and business are the most popular majors. Academic schools and departments include:

International applicants apply online and submit:
- High school and any college transcripts evaluated by a foreign credential service (SpanTran is recommended), with certified English translations
- ACT or SAT scores
- English proficiency test scores
- Declaration of Finances and passport identification page
- International commitment deposit of US$3,000
Once admitted, Southern issues the I-20 for the F-1 visa. Deadlines: for the fall semester (August), acceptance by 1 June, Declaration of Finances by 22 June and deposit by 24 June; for the winter semester (January), acceptance by 5 October, finances by 11 November and deposit by 18 November.
Regular admission requires Duolingo 115, TOEFL iBT 79, TOEFL paper-based 550, IELTS 6.5 or iTEP 4.0. Applicants with Duolingo 85-114, TOEFL iBT 45-78, IELTS 5.5-6 or iTEP 3.0-3.9 are admitted with ESL classes. Citizens of several English-speaking countries (e.g. Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom) may be exempt.
Southern awards more than US$23 million in university funds to undergraduates each year, and 98% of full-time undergraduates receive financial aid. The Southern Scholars interdisciplinary programme carries a scholarship. Students can also work on campus; international students on F-1 visas may work on campus for up to 20 hours per week.
Most undergraduates live on campus. Thatcher Hall (women) and Talge Hall (men) have chapels, kitchens, exercise and laundry rooms. Upper-year students can live in Southern Village apartments (four students sharing two bedrooms, separated by gender). Separate housing is available for students aged 23 and over, graduate students and students with families.
