St. Olaf College is a private liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) in Northfield, a small town in Minnesota, United States, a short drive from the Twin Cities. It was founded in 1874 by Norwegian Lutheran immigrants. The campus covers 300 acres, plus 350 acres of restored wetlands, woodlands and prairie, and 95% of its 3,040 students live on campus.
St. Olaf offers more than 85 majors, concentrations and pre-professional tracks with a 12:1 student-to-professor ratio and a 4-1-4 academic calendar. The most popular majors are psychology, biology, quantitative economics, political science and mathematics, and there are more than 90 study abroad and study away options.
International students come from over 100 countries. Degree-seeking international students may apply for financial aid and scholarships; the average award is about half of tuition. Admission is test-optional, with two Early Decision rounds, Early Action and Regular Decision.
