Swinburne University of Technology is a public university in Melbourne, Australia. It opened over 110 years ago and has been a university for 30 years. It has campuses in Hawthorn, Croydon and Wantirna, and one in Sarawak, Malaysia. According to the university, it is in the top 300 of the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2025.
Swinburne offers vocational (TAFE) courses, diplomas, associate and bachelor's degrees, graduate certificates and diplomas, master's degrees and PhDs. Study areas include:

- Engineering, aviation, and built environment and architecture
- Information technology, science, and games and animation
- Health, nursing and psychology
- Design, film and television, and media and communication
- Arts, humanities and social sciences
All bachelor's degrees include work-integrated learning through placements, internships or industry projects. For international students there are English (ELICOS) courses, the Swinburne Foundation Program and UniLink pathway diplomas, as well as study abroad places. Applicants can apply directly or through an authorised education agent and are considered automatically for merit scholarships. Students can live on campus in Hawthorn, and an accommodation help desk advises on other housing.

Research degrees (master's by research and PhD) are offered in arts, humanities and social sciences, business, design, engineering, health, IT, law, psychology and science. Research institutes include the Innovative Planet, Iverson Health Innovation, Social Innovation, and Space Technology and Industry institutes. The Postgraduate Qualifying Program (PQP) is a pathway into postgraduate study.
International applicants must meet the minimum academic and English language requirements of their course; overseas qualifications are assessed with the application, and minimum grades are set by country (for example, the Mexican bachillerato with at least 70% or 7/10 overall for undergraduate entry). - Accept the offer, pay the deposit and arrange Overseas Student Health Cover
- Apply for a student visa with the Confirmation of Enrolment

International students starting at the Hawthorn campus in 2027 are considered automatically for merit scholarships, based on their previous grades, with no separate application:
- Swinburne International Scholarship: 20% off tuition for the standard course length (undergraduate, postgraduate or pathway courses)
- George Swinburne International Excellence Scholarship: 30% off tuition (undergraduate or postgraduate courses)
- ELICOS+ Scholarship: refund of up to 10 weeks of English course fees for students combining ELICOS with a degree
Some courses are excluded, such as research degrees and some health master's degrees.
Students can live on the Hawthorn campus, in private or shared accommodation. Off campus, the university provides information on nearby student residences and hostels, homestay with a local family, and renting or sharing. Hostels and hotels near each campus can be used for short stays on arrival. An accommodation support team helps with problems on or off campus, and international students can use an accommodation help desk and workshops for advice.
