The International Center (Centro Universitario Internacional, CUI) of the Universidad Pablo de Olavide (UPO) runs study abroad and Spanish language programmes for international students in Seville. UPO is a public university founded in 1997 that describes itself as one of the youngest and smallest in Spain; it offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in many fields. Its campus lies at kilometre 1 of the Seville–Utrera road and is connected to the city centre by metro, bus and bike path. The International Center was officially founded in 2002 and has been accredited by the Instituto Cervantes since 1 March 2008.

In the Multidisciplinary Studies Program, Spanish is taught at six levels, set by a placement test, and many subject courses are taught in English. Courses are worth 6 ECTS credits (3 US credits), students take up to five per semester, and a minimum GPA of 2.75 is required. For housing, students can live with a host family, arranged since 2025 through the partner institution SIGE, or in one of several residence halls, one of them on campus. The International Center does not arrange shared flats.

The Hispanic Studies Program at Pablo de Olavide University - International University Center is a program that gives international students the opportunity to study subjects with a Hispanic and intercultural focus. Students in this program can choose between two sessions, dependent on their level of fluency in the Spanish language. Students enrolled in this program can transfer earned credits from Pablo de Olavide University - International University Center to most universities around the world.

Interdisciplinary Studies Program

The Interdisciplinary Studies Program at Pablo de Olavide University - International University Center is a program that gives international students the opportunity to study courses in a wide variety of academic fields. Students in this program can study the Spanish language, international business, psychology, science courses with a lab, Spanish art, history, political science, literature, and more. This program caters to both students with low or no Spanish skills who wish to spend a semester in Spain, and to students with an intermediate or advanced level of Spanish who wish to take their classes in Spanish. Students enrolled in this program can transfer earned credits from Pablo de Olavide University to most universities around the world. The University Integration Program (PIU) at Pablo de Olavide University - International University Center is a program that gives international students the opportunity to study subjects whilst fully integrated into a Spanish university. Students in this program can study business administration, humanities, Spanish art, sciences, law, and more. Students enrolled in this program can transfer earned credits from Pablo de Olavide University - International University Center to most universities around the world.

Admission

Language requirements

No Spanish requirements, high level of English (except for the "University Integration Program - PIU" - high level of Spanish required or a business major for business courses in English).

Fees

Multidisciplinary Studies Program, 2026-27 academic year:

€2,655 per semester
€1,920 per semester if the student's home university has an agreement with UPO
Single course: €655 (€520 for Erasmus students)

The semester fee includes an official UPO transcript, orientation and welcome reception, up to five courses, four cultural or social activities, library and computer lab access, access to sports facilities (the gym costs extra), reduced-price day trips and a farewell reception.

Duration

Each class is worth 6 ECTS credits (3 U.S. credits). Students can take up five courses a semester.

Deadlines

Multidisciplinary Studies Program, 2026-27 academic year: the Spring 2027 semester runs from 25 January to 14 May 2027; the application deadline is 26 October 2026 and the payment deadline 17 November 2026. The Fall 2026 semester (7 September to 16 December 2026) had an application deadline of 12 June 2026.

Scholarships and financial aid

The International Center offers reduced fees: students from universities with an agreement with UPO pay a lower semester fee for the Multidisciplinary Studies Program, and Erasmus students receive discounts.

Housing

Host families: arranged since 2025 by the partner institution SIGE; single or double room, sheets and towels provided, and only Spanish spoken at home
Residence halls: the International Center lists several private residences in Seville and the Residencia Celestino Mutis on campus
Shared flats: not arranged by the center; it gives around €300-400 per month as a typical room price and advises living near a metro station

Services and activities

Social/Cultural and sports activities included throughout the academic year. There is also a gym on campus.
