Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma

The Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma (UCBM) is a non-state university in Rome, founded in 1993 on the initiative of members of Opus Dei. Since 2008 its campus has been in Trigoria, in the south of Rome, within the Decima di Malafede Nature Reserve, next to the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital, with which teaching is closely linked. Teaching is organised in three departmental faculties:

  • Medicine, Surgery and Dentistry
  • Engineering
  • Science and Biotechnology for Food, Nutrition and Health

Programmes include three-year bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, single-cycle master's degrees, specialisation schools, PhDs and postgraduate masters. For international students, the six-year Medicine and Surgery programme and the Medicine and Surgery "MedTech" programme, which combines medicine with biomedical engineering, are taught in English, with separate admission procedures for non-EU citizens living abroad. The university has an International office. Its Right to Study Office helps students find accommodation, including the Borgo Primo Centro guesthouse next to the campus and partner residences in Rome.

Programmes

Three-year bachelor's degrees (2026/2027):

  • Industrial Engineering and Biomedical Engineering
  • Food Sciences and Human Nutrition
  • Nursing, Physiotherapy and Speech Therapy
  • Medical Radiology Techniques for Imaging and Radiotherapy

Six-year single-cycle master's degrees: Medicine and Surgery (in Italian or in English), Medicine and Surgery "MedTech" (in English) and Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics.

Graduate programmes

Two-year master's degrees (2026/2027):

  • Biomedical Engineering, Intelligent Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering for Sustainable Development
  • Biosciences for Food, Nutrition and Health; Food Science and Technology and Food Design
  • Nursing and Midwifery Sciences; Rehabilitation Sciences of Healthcare Professions

UCBM also has specialisation schools, PhD programmes and postgraduate masters and advanced courses through UCBM Academy, for example in health, pharma and biomedical management or cybersecurity management.

Admission

Each programme has its own admission call (bando) with available places and sessions; for 2026/2027, separate procedures exist for Italian, EU and equivalent citizens and for non-EU citizens living abroad, including for the English-taught Medicine and Surgery and Medicine and Surgery "MedTech" programmes. Admission tests follow the rules in each call; the university does not run preparation courses. Prospective students can book a video interview with the Orientation Office.

Fees

First-year tuition fees for the 2026/2027 academic year (total contribution plus €140 regional tax, paid in three instalments), for example:

  • Medicine and Surgery (in English): €19,000
  • Medicina e Chirurgia (in Italian): €15,500
  • Dentistry (Odontoiatria e Protesi Dentaria): €22,486.66
  • Biomedical Engineering (bachelor's): €6,571.50

Fees are set each year by the Board of Directors.

Housing

The Right to Study Office helps students find accommodation. Options listed by the university include:

  • RUI Foundation residences under agreement with UCBM: Porta Nevia (women) and Collegio RUI (men)
  • Borgo Primo Centro guesthouse next to the campus, with 21 independent lodgings
  • Domus Italia rental flats in Fonte Laurentina, 3.5 km away, with a shuttle
  • Seraphicum student residence in EUR (173 beds, single and double rooms)
  • DOMO Student Living, with a shuttle to the campus and Metro B
