The Università degli Studi di Ferrara (University of Ferrara, Unife) is a university in Ferrara, Italy, with its seat at Via Ludovico Ariosto 35. Its history goes back to 1391, as its motto "Smart dal 1391" recalls. Unife is one of the nine European universities that founded the COLOURS alliance.

Open-access degrees have no selection test, while limited-access degrees have a set number of places, fixed nationally or locally. Applicants with a foreign qualification first have their eligibility checked on apply.unife.it, paying a 20 EUR fee, and also register on Universitaly; for 2026-27 the windows ran in spring and summer 2026. The International Mobility Office in Via Saragat 2/d assists international and exchange students. Specific scholarship programmes exist for citizens of Cameroon and for Palestinian students (IUPALS).

Admission

Applicants with an international school or university qualification first upload their documents on apply.unife.it to have their eligibility checked (20 EUR fee) and must also apply on Universitaly. For the 2026-27 academic year the application windows were:

  • 12 January to 30 April: master's degrees in Small business management in international markets, Green economy and sustainable transitions, and Physics
  • 2 March to 30 June: all other master's degrees
  • 7 April to 31 July: all other courses

Late applications are rejected, and applications from non-EU students needing a visa are closed for 2026-27. Open-access degrees include a compulsory check of initial preparation, which does not prevent enrolment.
